Synaptiq Secures €480,000 for MEDIQ Index – a Clinical AI Assistant for Hospitals

In a significant milestone for Synaptiq, we are delighted to announce the official start of our newest project: MEDIQ Index – Local Clinical AI assistant for Real-Time Patient Summarization and Query. The project is funded by the European Union with €480,243.80 through the Horizon Europe EIC Pre-Accelerator (Widening) programme, managed by the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) – a strong recognition of our work at the intersection of AI and healthcare.

Anyone who has worked in a hospital knows the reality: a patient’s medical story is scattered across discharge letters, lab reports, imaging results and free-text notes, and reconstructing it costs clinicians precious time. MEDIQ Index is our answer: a secure clinical AI assistant that lives entirely inside the hospital’s own infrastructure and turns fragmented documents into accurate summaries and instant, clinician-driven answers, with every claim backed by a citation, and all patient data staying on-premise.

Over the next 24 months, this funding will allow us to develop and validate MEDIQ Index side by side with clinicians in real hospital environments, taking it from a working prototype to a system proven in clinical practice and ready for the market.

With the support of the European Union and our unwavering commitment to safe, explainable AI in medicine, we are one step closer to giving clinicians the complete patient story: instantly, and with every source at their fingertips.
